The Best Mascara for Nurses

Do you remember being a teenager and doing one of those quizzes you found in a magazine at the grocery store? Seventeen or Girls’ Life (I think)? There was always a question about the one beauty product you can’t live without. Mascara is my ride or die. I feel naked without it.

Being Asian, I face the eternal struggle of having short, stubby, wimpy lashes. Several years ago, I learned to work with what I have. A lot of it comes down to finding the right mascara for you and figuring out how to put it on correctly. Who knew you could even put on mascara wrong?!

OK, enough rambling. Here are my absolute favorite mascaras. They hold up well over a 12-hour shift and really make your eyes pop.

#1 L’Oreal Lash Paradise (Waterproof)

This is my absolute holy grail. The packaging is extremely similar to Too Faced Better Than Sex, but L’Oreal wins hands down. At about $8 a pop (vs. Too Faced at $22 LOL), it is a less pricey and more effective alternative because the formula isn’t as sticky. I love this mascara because it maintains a curl like no one’s business. I have run my ass off for 12+ hour shifts, and hardly experienced any raccoon eyes. If you have Asian lashes, you’ve GOT to try this. For stubborn lashes that won’t curl, I recommend using a lash curler and then finishing with the waterproof formula.

#2 CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara (Waterproof)

Oh man, does this one bring back some middle school memories. . I love this one for the brush, as well as the soft and fluttery look it gives. Cheap af and sometimes you can get a value pack of 2. It doesnt give nearly as much pop as my #1 pick, but it lengthens much better and is easier to get onto your lower lashes. CoverGirl has done several renditions of this mascara, none of which measure up to Lash Blast Volume. Lash Blast is the O.G.

#3 Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara

Ok, so this is the only no-waterproof mascara on my list. I love the length and cleanness it gives me, although I would only recommend it for those with already somewhat long lashes and no monolid. It holds up well for being a non-waterproof formula. I get the travel size one, as I find the mascara is better after you’ve had it for a little bit.

I hope you liked my list of top 3 mascaras for nurses. Did I miss your favorites? Comment below what mascara you love for long shifts and why!
